About the event
This Safeguarding Workshop is specifically for those who do the role of Eucharistic Minister and/or Eucharistic Minister to the sick in homes or residential care. Scenarios discussed will be relevent to this ministry. Those in this Special Ministry from all parishes are invited to attend. Attending a safeguarding workshop is a requirement every three years for all volunteers, religious and staff in Catholic Parishes and Faith Communities in New Zealand. Safeguarding Training forms part of inductions for new or prospective volunteers, religous and staff. In advance of attending a workshop you are welcome to watch a 5 minute induction video from the National Office for Professional Standards, outlining what is safeguarding and why we need to develop a "safeguarding lens" in a "One Church Approach". Link to video - Safeguarding Induction Video - National Office for Professional Standards (catholic.org.nz). It is a top priority of the Catholic Church to continue to commit to implementing and maintaining cultures of safeguarding, in order to keep our children, our vulnerable adults and all who serve and worship in our communities safe from harm. Cultures of safeguarding are a shared responsibility. The Church has zero tolerance for abuse.
