About the event
The St Vincent de Paul Society is committed to safeguarding as it applies to children, young people, families, other vulnerable people including volunteers of the society. This commitment involves reducing and preventing risks of harm, working to ensure that vulnerable individual and communities are safe and empowered. Safeguarding also involves recognising the dignity and human rights of all persons and working together to ensure that those rights are not violated. The society acknowledges that people could be vulnerable to abuse or neglect by reason of their age, physical or mental disability, or poverty and reliance on support services.
Committing to safeguarding is not just about preventing abuse, reporting, and acting upon it, it is also about creating safe and respectful environments. It is a shared responsibility.
