About the event
Safeguarding is a core responsibility for everyone serving in the Catholic Church in New Zealand. Even those that are not directly involved with children's and/or vulnerable adult ministries are required to complete safeguarding training due to the need for our shared responsibility to create safe and healthy ministry environments. It is important for volunteers to learn about safeguarding themselves in ministry, understand boundaries and know who to go in the event of a safeguarding concern.
This free workshop will cover the principals of safeguarding and provide clear and practical guidance on safeguarding practices that ensures our church remains a safe and respectful environment for all. Attendance is required for all new volunteers and for existing volunteers who have not completed safeguarding training in the past three years.
